am shocked and deeply disturbed. I recently found out that officials in a southwestern Chinese county brutally slaughtered 50,000 dogs in a government-ordered crackdown after three people died of rabies. Tell the US Ambassador to condemn this animal cruelty and prevent more from occuring.

This was not humane euthanasia. Dogs being walked were seized from their owners and beaten to death on the spot. Killing teams also entered villages at night creating noise to get dogs barking, and then beat the animals to death.

What's worse, the slaughter was completely preventable. Had the government been more attentive and proactive about rabies vaccination, rabies would not have become a problem in the first place. Only 3 percent of dogs are vaccinated against rabies and more than 2,000 people die of the disease each year. Take Action.

Regardless of cultural differences, the brutal killing of innocent life, human or not, is unacceptable. This must not happen again in the future! It is essential that the Chinese government place an emphasis on widespread rabies vaccinations to protect human health and prevent the unnecessary loss of animal life.

I would ask that my fellow Americans boycott products from China, but I know that Americans have become China dependent since we sent all of our [censored] jobs out of the U.S. That and the fact that the cost of living in the USA has skyrocketed to the point where folks have to buy the cheapest goods that they can find. I will personally do my best on my part anyway. Thank God that I do not live in a country that forces me to have only child, enslaves children in work camps, treats it's females like they aren't human, murders innocent animals (because they are too lazy or stupid to cure the problem).

Not suprised at that response. I can remember when centinnialdawg's dog got shot, and the response was about the same. To each his own though.

I think it is China's way of just showing the world that they can't handle thier own people. Dogs are not the only animal that carries rabies yet they think by just getting rid of the dogs it will help. A lot of thought went in to this I am sure.

This is inhumane to say the least. I can't believe this kind of torture of animals is condoned in any town, street, or nation. How in the world can a owner be walking down the street with their dog, and someone with some kind of authority just come up and grab my dog from me and persue to kill it? This is wrong.
